Mangekyou Sharingan

I told you all it was the Mangekyou Sharingan —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.169.52.253 (talkcontribs) 01:23, 16 September 2005 (UTC)

That's great, now where's your proof? --Pentasyllabic 03:18, 16 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
If I recall, there hasn't been any proof yet, so I don't know what that guy's problem is... --Splattergroit 09:07, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
He's just happy that his little prediction (and that of many, many, many others, including myself) was correct. Chapter 276 states that Kakashi's new Sharingan is indeed the Mangekyou Sharingan.
Makes me wonder if it changes form for each jutsu performed with it...
--JadziaLover 07:48, 16 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
It still doesn't put him in the right though... I could claim, for example, that World War III will start next year, and even if I spammed it all over Wikipedia and the Internet, most people will disregard it as just another opinion, until next year comes around. --Pentasyllabic 16:52, 16 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Anyway, he's right; Kakashi's new Sharingan is the Mangekyou Sharingan. --Tadhg Plummer 13:48, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

technique copy numbers

I am not signed in but oh well, i think in the anime it says 2-3 times that kakashi has copied over 100 ninja techniques, 1000 just sounds too high a number, if im wrong then thats fine but thought id get the idea out. oh yeah, and whoever that anon is needs to learn how to talk like an adult, that is not wiki acceptable behavior, and if you spam curse words and degrade people your IP will be blocked. -tik —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.153.29.23 (talkcontribs) 19:24, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

It was a 1000 jutsus. That is enough techniques to have earned him the title of Copy-nin. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.119.224.42 (talkcontribs) 00:47, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
To augment what the previous user stated, Zabuza mentions this near the beginning of the anime. If it is of great importance to you, I can look up the episode. ~ CodeLabMaster 21:44, 21 June 2006

Scarecrow?

Does anybody have an idea of why his name is translated into "Scarecrow"? Why does he cover his face and does that have something to do with his name(does his appearance scare everybody away?)? Does it have something to do with The Wizard of Oz? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.192.60.51 (talkcontribs) 19:35, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

If I remember correctly, Kishimoto named Kakashi Kakashi, because he liked the sound of it. The face-covering thing was because Kishimoto thought ninja should cover their faces. --JadziaLover 20:49, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Some speculate it might have been since he looked excatly like his father, 'White Fang'. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.119.224.42 (talkcontribs) 00:48, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Yaoi ?

I am very aware of flamers out there who dislike the yaoi paring ( KakaIru), but I've added it under trivia just for reading interest. If anybody deems it inappropriate by all means delete it, just don't go hassling me about it. Thanks ! ^^ The same goes for the Iruka section. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 60.50.151.199 (talkcontribs) 05:09, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Not going to hassle you about it, but I'd just like to point out that pairing any two members of humanity with Y chromosomes tends to be a part of ANY fandom, especially in anime. It's certainly interesting trivia, but should probably go under the topic of fanfiction or something to that effect. 159.37.7.48 17:14, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No way! I've noticed a lot of yaoi-flamers too, but I think that it's really an important [art pf the fandom. IruKaka yay! ^.^ —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.128.50.194 (talkcontribs) 23:32, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Thunder Clouds

Whats the name of that move Kakashi does to summon the thunder clouds in episode 5 of the anime. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.190.247.165 (talkcontribs) 17:32, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

It's unnamed... If it even IS a technique, anime tends to use colourful backgrounds to emphasize emotions, like the cliffs with the splashing waves when Lee and Gai does one of their little antics.

Requested move

Hatake KakashiKakashi Hatake – As pointed out in Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Anime_and_manga#Naruto_character_article_titles, the current names for articles about Naruto characters are inconsistent with the names used for other anime characters (Naruto characters use Japanese order for names, while most other anime characters have their name in Western order), as well not following the naming guidelines in WP:MOS-JA.

fictional perverts?!?!

How come Kakashi-sensei is nominated as a "fictional pervert"?!?! (Seriously, WHO did it?) It seems like the requirements for being a "fictional pervert" is: Fictional characters who:

  1. "Have knowledge of and have even tried out other forms of sex"
  2. "Are often seen spying in locker rooms"

I mean, Jiraiya deserves the title but... our beloved Kakashi-sensei?!?!

Well, maybe if you count the fact that he reads "Icha Icha Paradise"... --Alexie 05:00, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The actual content of those, though more than likely perverted, is never actually seen. This guy does have a point, though. Reading porn, no matter how frequently, doesn't make one a pervert. Reading it in the open might, but again, we're not certain just what's in those novels. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 05:07, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You'd know what a pervet is huh Someguy? I'm not sayin' this to offend you, but I trufully believe that you have a great grasp of knowledge of the English language. Power level (Dragon Ball) 17:49, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Kakashi never seemed like a pervert. He just reads "Icha Icha Paradise". Someguy0830 has a point; "Reading porn, no matter how frequently, doesn't make one a pervert. Reading it in the open might". --Tadhg Plummer 13:56, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hand Seals

I was wondering if the more experienced a ninja is the less he/she has to rely on hand seals, for example naruto uses a hand seal to initiate kage bunshin but whenever we see a high level ninja like kakashi use kage bunshin I see no hand seals.BLaCk 00:44, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's just a shortcut in animation. It would be tedious to animate all of the hand seals, so they omit them a lot of the time. Nemu 00:50, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ooh, that makes sense. They do it so often that I thought since theyve done it so many times that they remember the chakra molding required for the jutsu.BLaCk 23:32, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kakashi's photo with 4th team

I don't know why but, shouldn't we show the image of Rin, Obito, the 4th Hokage and Kakaski from the anime from the 3rd's flashbacks, instead of the manga one. Cobalt 17:14, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kakashi Unmasked

I was looking at triva, and it stated that Kakashi's whole face was never seen, but there is a photo of him without his mask. Image:Kakashi Unmasked.JPG Xepeyon 01:45, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's fan art. Don't you think someone would have noted Kakashi's unmasked appearance if they had actually shown it in the naime? – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 01:47, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure? I looked real to me. And if I am wrong, don't bear your claws for something I didn't realize. Xepeyon 02:02, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jounin

Is it just me, or is jounin spelled wrong? I'm guessing it may be a japanese to english spelling difference or something, but it's spelled "jounin" in the subs of the japanese version of the anime, and I just thought I'd ask. We try to have our facts right, right? ;) -Sinujutsu

"Jounin" is never used in the article. It literalizes the long o sound of Jōnin. The romanized version simply uses "Jonin". It's like saying Hyuuga. Pointless. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 05:05, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

recent revision

I attempted a massive clean-up of the detail in this article and reworked tons of otherwise unnecessary detail (deleting or otherwise moving it to trivia), but alas, my version was reverted back to its original. Why!? This article reads like a book report!!!

Bad.

I'm hoping we can come to a reasonable compromise for personal reasons and also because the article is excessively LONG. I'm hoping we can work together to clean this section up. I propose:

  • reorganizing of sections > why are history and the Parts 1 + 2 separate? Do we need a huge ABILITIES section when that can BRIEFLY be explained in the Background sect?
  • removal of detail, or otherwise its transfer to trivia sect. > for instance
    • "Kakashi also has another famous (or infamous, depending on who's been on the receiving end) jutsu called One Thousand Years of Death. Despite the verbose title, which is even longer when he actually uses it, this is simply an extremely sharp poke to an opponent's rectum with the index and middle fingers of both hands (the ninja version of a kancho), launching them into midair with humiliating pain. This is first demonstrated by Kakashi on Naruto during the Survival Training Exam. Naruto discovers the true purpose of the jutsu and uses it in a modified form during his fight with Gaara."

...I'm not quite sure what to say about that. It's funny, but...very out of place here.

PLEASE check out the following.

  • Wikipedia:Avoid_peacock_terms
  • Wikipedia:Article size
  • Wikipedia:Guide_to_writing_better_articles
    • "Readers may tire of reading a page much longer than about 6,000 to 10,000 words, which roughly corresponds to 30 to 50 KB of readable prose. Thus the 32 KB recommendation is considered to have stylistic value in many cases; if an article is significantly longer than that, then it probably should be summarized with detail moved to other articles (see Wikipedia:Summary style). For most long pages, division into sections is natural anyway; even if there is no "natural" way to split a long list or table, many editors believe that it should be done anyway, to allow section editing."

....PLEASE someone take the initiative and clean this article up! --Jc215flip 01:42, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hatake Enoki

  • Kishimoto can be quoted once saying that for a long while, Kakashi's first name was supposed to be 'Enoki'[1]. <--- Look on "Kishimoto's Character Designs" on the website.

first of all, where is this from, second, Enoki doesn't show up on this japanese-english dictionary [2], third, what does it mean?

"Enoki" is a variant of "Enoki-take" which tranlates to "Long-thin white mushroom". "Enoki" by itself could mean Long thin and white by itself (meaning Kakashi's appearance). Look to [3] as proof. If you look for "Enoki" on Google images, you'll see images of long thin white mushrooms (yum, yum!!!)

Quoted where? Give an actual source, not some rambling on an MSN group. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 16:18, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copied Jutsu

I've noticed that Kakahsi's copied jutsu (at least, the ones that we know of, such as Water Clone Jutsu and Iron Fist taijutsu) do not appear in his profile box. Is there any specific reason for that, or can I add that in the next time I'm free? 75.24.92.170 06:30, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because it'd be ridiculously bloated. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 06:35, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Water Clone is listed, Strong Fist (Iron Fist) does not because we've NEVER seen him use that. Only Guy, Tsunade and Rock Lee have been seen using such a feat. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kabuto Yakushi (talkcontribs) .

Trivia: to be or not to be

I have noticed today that I cannot find the information which I clearly remember to be here some time ago. After some history browsing it was discovered that TTN removed the whole section with the facts I was looking for (the whole section called "trivia" was removed on the 1st of September). I have put a part of those trivia back, and that was followed by a lightning quick reaction of TTN who reversed my edit with a rather weak argument "none of that is important".

Setting aside some thoughts in that section that I think are nice but not that important, I would like to draw attention to two facts (quoted from what used to be the Trivia section):

  • Kishimoto can be quoted once saying that for a long while, Kakashi's name was supposed to be 'Enoki'.
  • As of the second data book, Kakashi has completed 197 D-rank, 189 C-rank, 414 B-rank, 277 A-rank, and 39 S-ranked missions.

Personally I think that the first one is just nice to know (perhaps we should add the "gozaru" bit, too), and the second item is something one might want to know and I can tell you it is not found that easily on the web. Perhaps TTN would care to elaborate on why (s)he thinks it is not important for the encyclopedia readers to know and/or some other contributors would care to express their opinions about whether these lines deserve their place in the article? --Ru.spider 18:17, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody could find a valid source about the Enoki bit, and the missions are unneeded "cruft." Nemu 18:25, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

His eyes are too small to see (it is on my computer.) But fake, nonetheless. // Sasuke-kun27 00:56, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Heh heh, well I guess my glasses aren't thick enough! ^_^ But still, you'd think there'd be a small glimmer of red. I didn't see it cuz I glued my face to the moniter trying to find it. But maybe the pic is so small because the person doesn't want to admit that it's fake. And the face is deformed, too. Okay, I'll stop now. Don't want to start an arguement, like the one in the Talk: Naruto Uzumaki page. Whew! ¡Adios! Kyo cat 01:06, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Peregrine Falcon Drop

If the piledriver move that Sasuke hit Orochimaru with in the Forest of Death, and Naruto with at the Valley of the End is called Peregrine Falcon Drop, then isn't that the exact same move that Kakashi killed Roga Nadare with in the first Naruto Movie? It was not any Omote Renge I've ever scene. However in the Falcon Drop's article it notes the similarity due to the fact that they are both moves that drop an enemy on there head with the force of both combatants weight from a high altitude. But the move should be on Kakashi's moves list. Rayfire 20:59, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Disregard the above comment. I can admit when I'm wrong. The move doesn't qualify for Omote Renge, but it certainly wasn't Hayabusa Otoshi. More of a standard Ninja Lightning drop in the vein of Vega from Street Fighter. My apologies. Rayfire 07:49, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kakashi's promotion to Jonin

Is it explicitly stated that Kakashi's promotion was due to a lack of manpower? If not, then Iorinyc is perfectly justified in removing that part. --Pentasyllabic 22:25, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, it was not stated explicitly and is therefore speculative. --Ru.spider 23:38, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Question

I thought that Might Guy was the strongest Jonin in Konohagakure , not Kakashi from the "manga databooks" as it says so on his ability section. Can someone shed light on this? – Power level (Dragon Ball) (Don't talk to me! I'm still a virgin... | I'm innocent - kidding)

If you compare the diagrams on pages 56 (Guy) and 94 (Kakashi) of the First Official Databook, you can see that in four of the eight parameters Guy beats Kakashi by a bit, and in the other four Kakashi is significantly better. However, Might Guy has never been given a chance in manga or anime to show such powerful moves as Kakashi does on a regular basis. Besides that, Kakashi is widely known in the world of Naruto (even in foreign countries), unlike Guy (a foreigner knowing him is shown only once, in anime filler). --Ru.spider 23:38, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

S-Class?

Is Kakashi an S-Class ninja? I was just wondering because he capable of taking on Akatsuki members(who are all S-Class), does S-Class missions, and has S-Class Jitsus. 65.80.232.74 17:19, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I recall, there was no clear definition of an S-rank ninja. However, it seems reasonably to assume that both Kakashi Hatake and his father can be classified as S-rank. --Ru.spider 23:38, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
