Dev Agarwal [1] is an Indian cinematographer [2] and director.[3] He is best known for his work in the films like CityLights [4] and Bollywood Diaries.[5] CityLights is a remake of the BAFTA nominated British film Metro Manila (2013).[6] The film was presented by Fox Star Studios in association with Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt.[7]Dev's documentary film Moved by Love was screened at Cannes short film corner in 2015.[8]

Early life

Dev Agarwal was born in Howrah, West Bengal. He spent much of his childhood making pictures and watching films.

In Kolkata, Agarwal studied mass communication and film studies from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata and then did his post-graduation in cinematography from Film and Television Institute of India.[9]

Career

Dev, an active member of the Western India Cinematographers Association and an accomplished Director of Photography in India, graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India and went on to complete 4 features, 10 documentaries and numerous advertising, corporate and short films. He is best known for his work in the films like CityLights and Bollywood Diaries. He is known for his stark images, capturing the energy of the characters with an unforced realism. Dev's documentary film Moved by Love was screened at Cannes short film corner in 2015.[10] [11]
