Ciise
The Issa ( Somali: Ciise ) are a Somali clan, a sub-clan of the Dir. The Issa reside primarily in Djibouti, nothern Somalia and the Somali Region of Ethiopia.
Prominent figures
- Hassan Gouled Aptidon 1916-2006, First President of Djibouti from 1977 to 1999.
- Ismail Omar Guelleh, Current president of Djibouti
- Abdourahman Waberi, Novelist.
Ciise (Darod)
There is also another tiny and less known Ciise sub-clan within the Darod clan of Somalia.
