Education & Career

From 2014 to 2016, Diermeier served as Dean of the Harris School of Public Policy.[1] Previously, he taught at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management as well as the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Rochester and master's degrees from the University of Munich, University of Southern California, and University of Rochester.[2]

Diermeier is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences[3] and a research fellow at the Canadian Institute of Advanced Research (CIFAR).[4] In 2014, he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in political science.[5]

Diermeier's research interests include economics, political theory, and crisis management.[6] Outside of academia, he has served in advisory roles to institutions including Johnson & Johnson, Accenture, the City of Chicago, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and UnitedHealth Group.[7]
