Forbes Grant SS, situated 1 km from KWT in Ginsberg, was established in 1941 by Cllr Forbes Grant, a white man. He had passion for bantu education and believed that it's not enough for black people to end education at primary level and decided to open a high school. It was only one block (there one that has the hall) - that block is still called Old Forbes. The first principal was Mr McPherson (there's a street named after him in Ginsberg)... some followed (including, Prof Lalendle, Mr Piliso, the late Mr Vani and the incumbent Mr Slatsha) - to mention but a few. Many political stalwarts are crafted from this school including Griffits and Victoria Mxenge, Steve Biko, Steve Tshwete, Sindisile Maclean and many more, even the black Springboks.
