Wild Kingdom is the fifth full-length studio album by American rock band Cotton Mather. It contains eleven more songs from band leader Robert Harrison's "Songs from the I Ching" project, in which each hexagram of the I Ching receives a song relating to the reading.
Background
Like with the previous Cotton Mather album, Death of the Cool, these songs were recorded between 2013 and 2016, and many were released on Harrison's now-defunct blog. "California" was released as a downloadable single in 2013, with "High Society" as its B-side. In November of 2016, an announcement was made for a four-song EP called Girl With a Blue Guitar. However, this EP was never released; in its place, the Cotton Mather with Nicole Atkins EP was released in December of 2016. Tracks from the planned Girl With a Blue Guitar release were compiled, along with several other I Ching songs, into the Wild Kingdom album, which was released in April of 2017.
