The Takatika Grit is a geologic formation in Chatham Island, New Zealand (Tioriori). It preserves fossils dating back to the Paleocene period, although it also preserves disturbed and re-worked Maastrichtian and Campanian microfossils and possibly also re-worked theropod fossils.
The exact date of the formation is unknown, but it is generally accepted that the formation was laid down around ca.65-64 million years ago, with the formation possibly being as old as ca.83 Ma and as young as 61 Ma.
