Steven Rashad Jackson (born July 22, 1983 in Las Vegas, Nevada) is an American Football running back currently playing for the St. Louis Rams of the NFL. He was the first running back taken (24th Overall) in the 2004 NFL Draft.

College career

Steven "Action" Jackson attended Oregon State University. He finished his college career with 743 rushing attempts for 3641 yards (4.9 yards per rushing attempt avg.), and 39 touchdowns, and received 66 passes for 680 yards(10.3 yards per reception). He rushed for 100 yards or more in 19 games. Prior to college, Jackson was an outstanding running back for the El Dorado High School Sundevils in Las Vegas, Nevada.

NFL career

Drafted in 2004, 24th overall, several teams chose not to draft Jackson because of a knee injury. Jackson combines speed and power and has played in the NFL for the St. Louis Rams for two years. In 2004, he had 134 rushing attempts for 673 rushing yards (5.0 yards per carry) and had 19 receptions for 189 yards (9.9 yards per reception). He scored four rushing touchdowns in 2004. In 2005, Jackson had 254 rushing attempts for 1,046 yards rushing (4.1 yards per carry), caught 43 passes for 320 receiving yards, and had 8 rushing and 2 receiving touchdowns. 2006 was truly a breakout year for Jackson. He recorded 346 rushing attempts for 1528 yards (4.4 yards per carry) as well as catching 90 passes for 806 yards (8.9 yards per reception). Jackson scored 16 touchdowns (13 rushing, and 3 receiving) for the year. He also led the NFL in total yards from scrimmage with 2334 yards. Jackson was named to his first ever Pro Bowl as a reserve running back.
