Patrick (Pat) John Burke (born December 14 1973 in Dublin, Ireland) is a professional basketball player in the NBA currently with the Phoenix Suns. He is the first Irish-born player in NBA history. He is captain of the Irish national basketball team.
Undrafted out of Auburn University, he signed a contract with the Orlando Magic in 2002 and played 62 games for them, averaging 4.3 points and 2.4 rebounds. He did not play in the NBA during the 2003-04 NBA season or the 2004-05 NBA season.
Burke attended Mariner High School in Cape Coral, Florida, USA. He did not play organized basketball until age 16.[citation needed]
Pat Burke is a fan favorite in Phoenix and fans will often chant MVP when he is shooting free throws.
