Question regarding speedy deletion tag

Hi John B123,

Looking for more information on why my article (Burning Down the House (novel)) was tagged for speedy deletion. You mentioned that it "seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright," and I'm curious as to which part of the article you're referring to. Is it the cited quotes from reviewers? If so, is there another way you'd recommend I cite them?

112abc (talk) 18:21, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 112abc, my apologies, the parts that were flagged are indeed direct quotes so I've removed the tag. On a separate note, the article needs more citations to show it meets WP:NBOOK. Regards --John B123 (talk) 18:31, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! 112abc (talk) 18:57, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question

Hiya. Sorry to ask so many. You reviewed Eduard Arzt which I was myself tempted to do, but the fact the page was created by clearly an SPA [1] gave me pause. I read the guidance, which was to wait a bit and see if the SPA turned into a useful contributor. The page does read a little bit like a CV but clearly has value. Nothing to see here, move on? Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 03:17, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alexandermcnabb. I did have a ponder over this one before reviewing, but in the end thought notability was established and there were no major issues to prevent reviewing. Generally, I don't not review articles by SPAs if the article stands on its own merit. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 08:14, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dunollie, New Zealand

Hi John. Re Dunollie, New Zealand "This article does not cite any sources. (November 2020)" - I would have thought the Source:-

Vajda, Vivi; Raine, J. Ian; Hollis, Christopher J. (2001). "Indication of global deforestation at the Cretaceous–Tertiary boundary by New Zealand fern spike". Science. 294 (5547): 1700–1702. Bibcode:2001Sci...294.1700V. doi:10.1126/science.1064706. PMID 11721051. S2CID 40364945.

Would have qualified as a reasonable source? Thanks in advance LawrieM (talk) 22:43, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LawrieM, I'm sure Vajda et al is a good source but it's given as an "External link", i.e. for further information on the subject, not a reference. See WP:CITE for a fuller explanation. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 22:51, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks John. Absolutely fair enough then. It might be above my paygrade at this stage to be able to handle the edit required. Do you have time to fix it in the meantime? Ta LawrieM (talk) 02:29, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LawrieM, I've sorted the refs and also made a few other changes to the page. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 17:53, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

John. So much better !! Thanks very much!! LawrieM (talk) 19:40, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, glad to have been of help. Regards --John B123 (talk) 19:41, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Krishna Devaraya (descendant of Aliya Rama Raya)

Hello JohnB123,

Why did you tag the article, Krishna Devaraya (descendant of Aliya Rama Raya), I created recently, for deletion? My opinion is that the article is significant, as Krishna Devaraya is the most famous descendant of the greatest emperor of the Vijayanagara Empire, Krishnadevaraya, and his influential son-in-law, Aliya Rama Raya. So please tell me what tells you that the article I created is insignificant.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks! User talk:Tulika and Satvik

Hi Tulika and Satvik. Notability is not inherited, nor is fame the same thing as being notable. An article on Krishna Devaraya would have to show how he is notable in his own right. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 10:22, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Can you review the page

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yennum_Yellow Can you please review the page Shahoodu (talk) 10:08, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Shahoodu. I've marked the article as reviewed. Somewhat unusual for a club to release an album for its fans. Regards --John B123 (talk) 10:28, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. Thats what is make notable. It is the first ever album released by an Indian club as a dedication to its fans. Also multiple sources including Times of India (green on perennial sources list) support this. This was a major news in major malayalam newspapers also. Hope you understood. Thankyou Shahoodu (talk) 11:03, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi John B123 - thanks for your comments. Please check out the CSC Concrete Sustainability Council, which is a not-for-profit association under Swiss law, which pursues a purely sustainable purpose. In this sense, the CSC is very similar to other associations listed on Wikipedia, such FSC, PEFC, BREEAM, LEED, DGNB. Happy to discuss Michael Claus Michael Scharpf (talk) 18:16, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Michael, I've just replied on Talk:Concrete sustainability council. Regards --John B123 (talk) 18:20, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for reviewing Natasha Marin

Hello! Thank you for reviewing Natasha Marin so fast. I added a section to expand on one of her projects (Black Imagination), with links to a number of nationally-known secondary sources with material references. Do you think this qualifies for the notability tag to be removed, or are there still concerns or other issues? I will add more biographical information and projects as well. One additional question: one of the subject's most notable projects has a separate wikipedia page (Reparations (website)). Is it bad form to duplicate some of that information on the bio page? Thanks again! Telektty (talk) 18:54, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Telektty. The notability guidelines for poets and artists are more geared to the deceased than current creative people, so assessing notability is at times subjective. In my view notability has been established so I have removed the tag, however, other may take a different view and challenge this. It's fine to include content from another page where relevant provided it's not overdone, the articles need to be significantly different. Generally you would include in Natasha Marin that she was the founder of Reparations (website), and possibly the background behind the formation, but not the details of the website which would be in Reparations (website). Regards. --John B123 (talk) 19:26, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so very much, John B123! This is so helpful. Kind regards Telektty (talk) 20:14, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletion of Lung Yen Life Service

Hi John I am confused why the page is deleted. All the content was translated from zh.wikipedia. It should not got any unambiguous advertising problem. Maybe you have no idea about funeral industry. Lung Yen is the largest provider in Taiwancapitalisticman. All the content are based on fact, Please tell my where do you think it is unambiguous promotion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chanchihon (talkcontribs) 02:46, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chanchihon. The page read like a press release for the company. The deletion was not a reflection of the notability of the company. Regards --John B123 (talk) 07:12, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!

Please keep the page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loreta_Fishta as is about an Albanian model which is also the great-granddaughter of Gjergj Fishta. I have added references and sources for this article.

Regards NCELAJ (talk) 07:39, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi NCELAJ. Notability is not inherited, so being a descendent of Gjergj Fishta does not qualify her for having her own page. You need to show by content and references that she is notable in her own right. I can move the article to draft where you can work on it without interference if you prefer. Regards. --John B123 (talk) 08:00, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
