Hi Television

Hi NickelShoe,

Thank you for contacting me about the proposed deletion of the article about Hi Television.

I will rewrite the entry. Briefly, I would like to point out that Hi Television is a fast-growing and legitimate commercial and cultural entity.

I hope that the rewritten article will be allowed to remain in Wikipedia.

Many thanks, Hywel Jones.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by HiTelevision (talkcontribs).

Drum Circle ammendments

Hi Nickleshoe. I'm new to this so bear with me. I am a professional drumcircle facilitator and have been for Seven years. So I was a bit shocked when i got to the drum circle page and saw prominent reference to "hippie" culture" and a picture of drums and candles. Not the world I inhabit at all. My world ranges from touring schools in the UK and corporate events in plush hotels all over Europe. Candles and hippies don't get a look in. So an unbalanced page. True what I put in did look like self advertising but maybe i need some help to tip the balance of the entry back to the centre. ..Freddythehat 00:13, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Delta Theta chapter of Beta Theta Pi

The Delta Theta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi is located at the University of Alabama. I do not understand why you proposed deletion for my article. If there's any concern you wish for me to better educate you with please feel free to contact me at Boone8176@yahoo.com. Boone719 18:36, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Boone719[reply]

You have been talking to User:Fujicolor because of this Aretikle. It sounds fake to me the famous Doctors are unknown to Google and the only web site knowing anything about Dejter’s needle is the en-wikipedia. Can you look into this, because I am not so firm with how things like that are dealt with in en wikipedia.de:Benutzer:Tox (on vacation)--84.160.238.45 11:13, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On de we now found proofs for a Stephen W. Dejter, which mighht be the same person, but there are still doubts--84.160.238.45 11:23, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I got this information by the Libary of Opatowek, Mrs. Jadwiga Miluska. She also cares about the history of Opatowek.

Barrie Football League

As the creator of the entry for the Barrie Football League, I'm a little disapointed you felt the need to delete our entry. It seems as though cenorship know no ends and you are one of its cheif proponents. I hope you are proud of yourself that you have taken you B.A. in english and put it to good use. I'm sure many of the great authors of the world would be proud to know that you are at the switch.

Aaron Valero Translation into Spanish

Hi again, You have very kindly guided me through this article in its early inception (over a year ago!) The Valero familys history dates back to 14 century Spain. I would very much like this article transaled & included in the Spanish Wikipedia.

I have tryed several times to do so but failed. How does one put a translation request from English into Spanish? Ronval 17:31, 8 January 2007 (UTC) Thanks for ur prompt reply. I learn from it, that there is no proper established way to move articles from one Wiki/language to another. I will try ur way & hope for the good services of one Wiki member.Ronval 11:47, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Garnault

Hi NickelShoe,

Saw your note and I was sitting on the fence. I didn't remove the items from the website, but was curious myself if the editor was Paul Garnault or just used the name... A lot of the writing is still in the 3rd person, but there seems to be more "fact" being added. Not sure that the editor knows how to write, so they might be just "acting" like an editor, which lends credence to them being Paul Garnault... Is that circular logic?!?

Thanks for jumping in to help with the overall article.

Take care,

Larry

I tend to assume no one would use a marginally (if) notable person's real name as a screenname. NickelShoe (Talk) 20:24, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So, you really are NickelShoe! Wow. Sorry, I couldn't help that. :-) Lmcelhiney 20:28, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I really am Paul Garnault, I do not feel the need to hide my identity. We tested this site to see how this resource works. We took two facts we could substantiate.

I was in the early Eastenders. But this failed to be picked up. Can I send you a BBC payslip? Can I play-back the credits from early episodes? As there is no means to do this we were not sure what one could do on this really. So trivial a fact. Wikipedia has so many errors of real knowledge in favour of Media web searches, yet can not accept a simple fact.

So we set out to test your cultural knowledge and cultural bias.

We had noticed that things Welsh are seen to lack credibility on the site and are often deleted, so we entered Wales' most prolific and successful theatre company, Wales Actors' Company. [1] It was not recognised as being of any importance. Yet English equivalents were.

Why? Because your viewpoint is English or Anglo American.

It seems that Wikipedia does not have credibility itself and cant not therefore claim authority. Tell me what is Wikipedias authority? (Except for a kind of snearing snobery perhaps. I can write if instructed clearly how)

Cultural imperialism must be addressed in WEB 2.0. A fact is not fact just becasue you have heard of it on google!!!

I support the on going campaign to CAVEAT this site to UK academic institutions on the grounds of cultural bias (on top of all other complaints) I will delete my entry in due course. Such a good idea but with no real attempt at authority. Paul Garnault HE Media and Performance Studies Gloucestershire College of Art and technology

Hi there. You know I'm just a regular editor here...It's true that Wikipedia has trouble with unintentional bias. See for instance Wikipedia:Systemic bias. But facts simply have to be verified. In any case, just because an article exists doesn't mean it's "recognised as being of any importance." Often such articles (if unnotable or unverifiable) simply haven't been noticed yet.
But no need to write me an essay, as I don't recall ever having anything to do with anything Welsh being deleted. NickelShoe (Talk) 21:46, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Silo Theater

Thanks for the welcome and the pointers. Yes we do have a problem with notability and I am indeed involved with the group so COI is also a point, although all the information is factual and objective, meaning no personal opinions are expressed.

Would a notable review from a national newspaper help the notability (The Scotsman) or would this just be seen as self promotion?

I guess an entry dealing with the genre of object theater would be the place to mention us. Perhaps I'll have a go a writing one. Thanks anyway or your time.
