The Lusto building, completed in 1994, has been chosen as a sample of Finnish modern architecture of the 20th century. The main designers of the larch-lined concrete frame building are architects Rainer Mahlamäki and Ilmari Lahdelma. As the name suggests, the original Lusto building is round, like the annual ring of a tree. The area of the Lusto building is 6,000 square meters, of which 2,500 square meters are exhibition space.

The extension part of Lusto was opened to the public in 2008, and with the new building regulations, it was possible to use more wood in the construction, for example in the frame.
