  • Comment: 1. There is no context--I had to first find out what ABB was.
    2. The award has only been given once, so it will be difficult to show that it is already notable
3.This is written like a press release, using the formal jargon of the award citation, and puffery such as , "The intention behind the ABB research award is the importance of research and development for the company – internally, as well as externally and academically. That's why ABB invests around $1.5 billion a year in R&D."
    4. You must have references providing substantial coverage from third-party independent reliable sources, not press releases or mere announcements. They can't come from your company; they can't come from the orgnaization of the person given the prize.

About the award

The ABB Research Award in Honor of Hubertus von Gruenberg is named after Dr. Hubertus von Gruenberg, who was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the technology company ABB from 2007 to 2015.[1][2]

Awarded every three years, the prize is endowed with a research grant of US$300,000,[3] making it one of the most highly endowed global research awards given by a corporation. The prize is awarded to a postdoctoral researcher working in the fields of energy, manufacturing, transport, infrastructure, digitalization, or related fields. The grant enables the awardee to continue research on his or her topic for three years.[3]

The award was created to sustain high levels of research and encourage the development of future cutting-edge technologies and applications.[4]

Applications for the 2019 award are due by January 31, 2019.[5]
