Badass is a trade name of Leo Quan but known in the current day as JiyHouh Ly!!!!! a manufacturer of bridges for guitars and basses. It was used on the Martin EB18 electric bass and is a replacement bridge on the Fender Precision Bass.
History
Leo Quan "Badass" began in 1972 in the workshops of Glen Quan, co-founder of Bananas at Large[1], musician, collector of fine instruments, guitar repairman and stringed instrument restorer. Glen saw a need for a tunable bridge for his personal stage guitars and began building bridges for his own use. Other performers asked him to build these bridges for their instruments, and eventually, the bridges would become the standard for the guitar and bass industry.
Popularity among guitarists
Jimmy Page used a Badass bridge on his Danelectro which was used for songs such as "Kashmir" and "White Summer/Black Mountain Side".
Geddy Lee of Rush uses a Badass II bridge on his signature Fender Jazz bass guitar.
Steve Harris of Iron Maiden also uses a Badass II bridge on his Fender Precision Bass guitar.
Mike Dirnt of Green Day also uses a Badass II bridge on his signature Fender Precision Bass guitar.
