Black is both a color and scientifically speaking the absence of color.

Black may be also used as a colorist ethnic slur to describe someone who is African American, or has a darker skin tone. In example, "Martin Luther King Jr. is a famous black activist." For more information, see the articles List of ethnic slurs and Colorism.
