|concern = As proposed deletion before, the event hasn't even completely unfolded yet. Move it to a draft until it is actually over, then re-assess. See the talks about the April 1-3, 2024 outbreak article for further context. Also I have no idea why the article was redirected to avoid a PROD (which the reasoning was completely overlooked, had nothing to do with directing but about the event itself)

One last note, "looks to be significant" and "is significant" are two completely different things. Everything is under speculation right now, and needs to be re-assesed.

A tornado outbreak is ongoing across portions of the Midwestern and Southern United States, as multiple tornadoes were reported.[1] A tornado in Lancaster County, Nebraska injured three people,[2] while a tornado occurred across northeastern Lincoln, Nebraska.[3]

Meteorological synopsis

On April 20, 2024, the Storm Prediction Center first noted a 15% severe weather risk on April 26, covering across a widespread area from central Iowa to northeastern Oklahoma.[4] This was maintained through the next two days, with the risk area being expanded into northeastern Texas on April 22.[5][6]

On April 24, a widespread level 2/slight risk area was issued by the Storm Prediction Center, which also covered areas previously under the 15% risk two days earlier.[7] A level 3/enhanced risk was included the next day in an area across southeastern Nebraska, southwestern Iowa, northeastern Kansas, and northwestern Missouri, which included the Kansas City metropolitan area.[8] The enhanced risk included a significant 10% tornado risk, and a significant 30% hail risk.[8] The enhanced risk area was then expanded eastward several hours later.[9] On April 26, the enhanced risk was expanded in the Storm Prediction Center's Day 1 outlook southward into portions of Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas, which included the Ark-La-Tex region.[10]
