Early Life

His father’s first words when Lonnie was born were “He is going to play piano”. Born and raised in a one square mile village named Freeville NY, Lonnie grew up in a conservative fundamental Christian family. The family was involved in their local Baptist Church and its associated activities almost daily. Lonnie’s first public music performances began when he was five years old when he would sing solo while standing on a chair behind the pulpit. Immersed in the Christian culture, it wasn’t until Lonnie was almost seventeen that he truly experienced popular secular music. His only exposure to secular music was a crate of 45’s that his father allowed him to play. Lonnie credits his musical influences to be his church and family’s musical environment, and the 45’s featuring Elvis, Del Shannon, Buddy Holly, and country classics. Lonnie’s parents were also small business entrepreneurs and instilled strong business skills and work ethics through all of his formative years.

After successfully graduating High School, he immediately attended Tompkins Cortland Community College as a communications major. Five weeks before his college graduation, Lonnie left the program to pursue musical opportunities. In recent years, Lonnie has been a featured speaker for that very program and has worked to the completion of his degree.

Business Career

In 1992, Lonnie and business partner opened “The Ultimate Music Center” in Cortland NY.  This business was a large retail music store, professional recording studio, and pro-audio business. Lonnie was responsible for running all aspects of the studio and pro audio divisions, while also participating daily in the retail and management parts of the business. He became known as the “Master of Sound” in central NY. His pro audio business serviced most Churches and Schools in the Central NY area. He composed a book for his customer base titled “Church Sound Systems” which was quickly picked up by international publishing giant Hal Leonard Publishing. The retail business was closed after the passing of his business partner in 2010. Under the newly formed company “Ultimate Sound LLC”, Lonnie continues to be the go-to source for industrial sound systems. He also is constantly active working with clients from the recording studio that he built in his home.
