Niraj J. Antani (born February 26, 1991) is the Representative of the 42nd district of the Ohio House of Representatives currently serving his third term. He is a member of the Republican Party. The 42nd District includes most of southern Montgomery County.

Personal Life & Education

Antani was born and raised in Miami Township. He currently lives in Miamisburg, Ohio.

Niraj attended Miamisburg City Schools and graduated from Miamisburg High School. He went onto The Ohio State University and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from there.[1]

Antani serves on the national board of the Republican State Leadership Committee's Future Majority Project and is a former chair on the Ohio Republican Party Asian Pacific American Advisory Council. In addition, he is part of the Rotary Club of Miamisburg and used to be a former executive board member of the Dayton International Festival.

On March 14, 2018, Niraj Antani made headlines by suggesting that students who were over the age of 18 should be allowed to carry rifles to school. The following day, after the substantial negative press, Niraj backtracked and said that he did a poor job of stating his position.[2]

On December 2, 2018 it was reported that Niraj Antani's role in the creation of a letter with Jeff Jacobson a lending lobbyist, intending to weaken a sweeping payday lending bill HB123, was under investigation by the US Department of Justice. A subpoena was issued on August 27, 2018 and sent to a federal grand jury on September 12, 2018. [3]

Awards & Recognition

Conservative media organization, Newsmax, called him the 2nd most influential Republican in the nation under 30. In addition, Niraj was added to Forbes Magazine’s list of the top “30 under 30” people in the U.S. for Law & Politics in 2015. In 2018, the Miami Valley Down Syndrome Association gave him the “Making a Difference” award for his work helping people with special needs. Niraj has been given the Legislator of the Year Award by the AMVETS Department of Ohio for his work helping veterans. In Red Alert Politics’s 2013 “Top 30 Conservatives Under Age 30 in the United States,” Antani is also named. As well, he has been awarded the Distinguished Government Service Award by the Ohio Association of Career Colleges & Schools and the Friend of Community Colleges Award by the Ohio Association of Community College for his efforts to improve higher education for the middle class.

Niraj Antani has made appearances on Fox News, PBS, MSNBC, C-SPAN, CNBC, MSNBC, Newshour, and Chuck Todd’s radio show. Also he has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and in numerous NBC National News articles.
