Peachtree Mall, was a shopping mall located in Columbus, Georgia, in the United States. After the closing and demolition of Columbus Square Mall in the early 2000s, Peachtree Mall is the only indoor mall in Columbus.

Anchor stores

  • Dillard's (Opened in 1975 as Gayfer's but converted to Dillard's as part of overall acquisition in 1998
  • Macy's (Opened as Rich's in 2002 and converted to the Rich's-Macy's name in 2003 followed by the Macy's name in 2005
  • J.C. Penney (Opened 1994)

Previous anchors

  • Parisian (Opened in 1985. Closed after Belk acquisition of Parisian in 2007)
  • Montgomery Ward (Opened in 1975. Closed when Montgomery Ward filed for bankruptcy in late 2000)

Layout

The original design of the mall was a single-level with anchor stores (Gayfer's and Montgomery Ward) on each end of the primary corridor. A food court was added along with a 3rd anchor store, Parisian in 1985. An addition to the mall was completed in November 1994 when J.C. Penney relocated to the mall from its previous Columbus Square Mall location. An oddity of this expansion was that to reach the addition from the existing mall, one must walk through Dillard's (formerly Gayfer's).

Closing

On April 16, 2009 General Growth Properties, the owners of Peachtree Mall, announced it will close the location in Columbus on Friday April 17th. This will leave over 250 employees out work.
