The Bolivar Commercial is a newspaper with its headquarters in Cleveland, Mississippi.[1] On April 8, 2020, the Commercial's owner Lee Walls announced that the newspaper would cease publication at the end of the month.[2]

The newspaper is not published during Christmas Day, American Independence Day, Labor Day, New Year's Day, and Thanksgiving Day. It is the only printed newspaper in Bolivar County and had been in circulation for 104 years when its closure was announced.[3] It is owned by Wells Newspapers.[4]

In his statement detailing the reasons for the newspaper's closure, owner Lee Walls cited the rise of Facebook and other social media, as well as the demise of a local car dealership that had been one of the Commercial's primary advertisers. In April 2020 published a print edition just two days a week and employed a staff of nine full-time employees and one part-time.[3]
