Tola is a municipality in the Rivas department of Nicaragua. Tola means "Land of Tula", or "Land of the Toltecs" and its etymology derives from Nahuatl Tōllān, the ancient Mesoamerican civilization of the Toltecs of central Mexico.[1][2] Tola is a direct reference to the Toltec ancestry of the Nahuas in the Nicaragua.[3][4][5] The indigenous inhabitants of Tola are the Nahuas.[6] 11°26′N 85°56′W / 11.433°N 85.933°W / 11.433; -85.933
