Muslim scientists and heresy[edit]
الرازي: يعتبر أبو بكـر الرازي من أهم العلماء الذي يتفاخر بهم الإسلاميّون اليوم. "إسلاميون تعني أشخاص أصحاب ميول سياسية إسلامية وليس المسلمون ككل" ويصفونه بأبي علم الطب، وحلقة الوصل بين الطب القديم والطب الحديث. التاريخ يؤكّد أن الرازي كان معارضاً صريحاً للنبـوّة، وكان يتناول مفهوم الوحي باستخفاف شديد، وألّف كتاب "مخاريق الأنبياء" الذي ينفي فيه تماماً وجود الأنبياء، ويعتبر العقل والمنطق الطريق الوحيد ليصل الإنسان إلى الله وليس النبوّات أو الوحي. كانت أفكاره سبباً جوهرياً في انتشار كراهيّته بين أوساط المسلمين، فاشتهر بأنه زنديق وكفّـره الأصوليّون.
ابن الهثيم: الحسن ابن الهيثم، كان وما زال رمزاً بالنسبة إلى أي فيزيائي، إذ يعتبر مؤسس علم البصريّات. وخاض في الكثير من العلوم والمجالات، مثل الطب والهندسة والفلك والرياضيات، وله أكثر من 200 مؤلّف ومقالة ومخطوطة.
اتّهم ابن الهيثم بالكفـر الصريح والإلحاد بسبب آرائه، وهو مثل غيره من الفلاسفة رأى أن العالم قديم أزلي، وينبغي تقديم المنطق. واتّهم بالجنون في آخر حياته، وأجبــر على البقاء في بيته بالقاهرة يؤلف ويكتب حتى مات.
الكندي: أبو يوسف يعقوب بن اسحاق الكِندي واحد من العرب القلائل الذين نالوا مجداً واسعاً، في فترة كان غالبية العلماء والمشاهير من المسلمين الفرس وبلاد ما وراء النهر. ألّف مئات الكتب والرسائل الاي تطرقت إلى الموضوعات التطبيقية والفلسفية. وهو آمن أن النقل ليس مُقدّماً على العقل، وأن العقل محور التصوّرات الإنسانية، والمقياس الذي يجب أن يُقاس به كل شيء حتى المقدّس، بما في ذلك النصّ القرآني، الذي كان يتعامل معه الأصوليّون عادة بظـاهر الآيات.
كانت طريقته العقلانية في تفسير الكثير من الآيات القرآنية والأحكام، سبباً محورياً في كراهية الأصوليين له، إلى جانب كونه مؤسسّ مدرسة الرواقيّين في الفلسفة الإسلامية، واعتباره أن النصّ الديني يخاطب العقلانيين بمعان باطنيّة عميقة، ويخاطب النقلانيين بمعان ظاهرية تتماشى مع فكرهم السطحي، مثل الوعد بالحور العين والفاكهة في الجنة. إلا أن الحماية التي فرضها الخليفة المأمون عليه، ثم المعتصم فالواثق، أحاطته بهالة سياسية أبعدت عنه خصومه من الراديكاليين، وتركت له المجال في التأليف والتفكير والظهور كأحد أعلام المشاهير المسلمين. إلى أن جاء حكم الخليفة الأصولي المتوكّـل، الذي مال إلى آراء الفقهاء الأصوليين، فأمـر بمصادرة مكتبة الكندي الخاصة، وبجلـده على ظهره خمسين جلدة، أمام حشد كبير من الناس، نُقــل عنهم أنهم كانوا يتصايحون بتأييد عقابه بحجة أنه "زنديق".
ابن سينا: الشيخ الرئيس، وأكثـر علمـاء القرون الوسطى شهرة، الذي كان غزير العلم، وكتب في جميع المجالات تقريباً: أبو علي الحسين بن عبد الله بن الحسن بن علي بن سينا، المعروف تاريخياً بـابن سينـا، وعالمياً بـAvicenna.
يعدّ معشـوق النهضة الغربية الأوروبية، باعتباره من أعظم العلماء الموسوعيين. إلا أن تميّزه في الطب تحديداً من خلال كتابه "القانون في الطب" كان سبب شهرته الواسعة، وحجر الأساس للنهضة الطبية والتشريحية في أوروبا، إذ ظل مرجعاً أساسياً في تدريس وممارسة الطب لـ500 عام حتى مولد الطب الحديث.
على المستوى الديني، كـان ابن سينا أكثر الشخصيات بُغضاً لدى الأصوليين الذين اتهموه بالكفر، فقيل عنه: إمامُ الملحدين الكافرين بالله وملائكته وكتبه ورسله واليوم الآخر (إغاثة اللهفـان 2/ 274، ابن القيّم).
الفيسلوف ابن رشد: أشهر الفلاسفة المسلمين في الشرق والغرب، ويعتبر الجسـر الأساسي بين الفلسفة اليونانية القديمة وفلسفات عصر النهضة الأوروبية. دخل ابن رشد في معارك صارمة مع الأصوليين، إذ ركّز على أن المنطق يجب أن يكون كتفاً بكتف مع الوحي السماوي، والطريق إلى الله هو طريق العقل قبل أي شيء آخر، وبرع في تأويل آيات القرآن تأويلاً مختلفاً تماماً عمّا هو سائد لدى الأصوليين.
بمرور الوقت، بدأ ابن رشد يفقد مكانته العظيمة في الأندلس، وأصبح ضحية مؤامرات سياسية يحرّكها الأصوليون، فأمر الخليفة باستبعاده من قرطبة، وإحراق كتبه الفلسفية، التي لو لم تتمّ ترجمتها إلى اللاتينية، لما وصلت إلينـا في هذه العصور المتأخرة.
