The 2015 New York poisoned turkey incident was an outbreak of foodborne illness in New York from turkey meat that began in November 2015, during a week before Thanksgiving Day. People suffered from foodborne illness.

Context[edit]

Poisoned turkey meat was supplied to supermarkets of New York by “Koch’s Turkey Farm”. Koch's was one of the first in the United States to grow antibiotic-free turkeys with an all vegetarian diet. Farm raises over 800,000 turkeys annually. [1] However, there were about 200 registered cases of food poisoning, caused by products of “Koch’s Turkey Farm,” that occured during a week before Thanksgiving Day. People exhibited the same symptoms of food poisoning.

Symptoms, outbreak and treatment[edit]

About 200 patients were admitted to hospitals of New York with symptoms of food, including the abrupt onset of nausea and vomiting, fever heat, abdominal pain, diarrhea, etc.
