For future reference, when you nominate a template for merging with another one, even if the outcome is unanimous and a clear consensus, please do not actually implement the merge until the discussion has been formerly closed. Thank you.

Thank you, noted for future reference. I was careful to read through the documentation, but it involves ploughing through vast screeds of text. It does suggest that it acceptable to carry out a merger "if a consensus in favor of the merger is formed in less than 30 days, then anyone may perform the merger whenever they want." In this case, I gave it a week and there very little response and no objections. How a discussion should be formally closed is not especially clear. I always aim to comply with WP procedures, but like so many of the rules here, the procedure is badly written and difficult to follow, even with the highest good faith intentions! As a consequence of being bewildered by impenetrable rules, I overlooked the correct use of the talk page templates you mentioned. Will try harder next time! Technically speaking a "merge" discussion is different from a "TFD" discussion. You're right, if you post on the talk page(s) "I want to merge templates X, Y, and Z" and no one objects, you're welcome to implement the change before "the full 30 days" are up. However, TFDs are formal discussions that (like other XFDs) take place over a minimum of a week, and should not be acted upon before their closure (barring SNOW closes, withdrawals, or creator-requested deletions). Admin comes in and closes it. Sometimes they're not closed at exactly the seven-day mark, but there isn't a deadline or anything. Primefac (talk) 15:49, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Not sure if you still have the article on your watchlist, but am dropping off a note to let you know that I've added to Charles Pelham, Lord Worsley, who you created an article on in 2008. Actually, come to think of it, the notification system alerts everyone now about changes to articles they created, I think. Or maybe it is only when people link to an article you create. Happy St. David's Day

The leek is one of the national emblems of Wales, worn along with the daffodil (in Welsh, the daffodil is known as "Peter's leek", Cenhinen Bedr) on St. David's Day. Have you ever read Siddhartha? The reference cited is absolutely full of crap which brings the entire article into doubt. Siddhartha is NOT Gautama the Buddha, makes a point of that, and also is NOT "unhappy with his life until achieving enlightenment" or whatever the dumb line was. That citation is totally wrong and even stupid.

Sorry but I think keeping wikipedia on the straight and narro fact-wise is constructive. And it was a talk page anyhow, not an edit to the article.
