Wikipages

Welcome!

Hello, PatPeter, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. A tag has been placed on Shadowism, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

We get several articles a day on new religions/philosphies. The issue is Notability. Are ther mulitple, non-trivial reports on this religion from independent, third-party Reliable Sources? Fan-1967 18:36, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Note Blogs, forums, and free web pages such as geocities, freewebs or invisionfree do not qualify as Reliable Sources. Fan-1967 18:38, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shadowism

Welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome your help to create new content, but your recent additions (such as Shadowism) are considered nonsense. Please refrain from creating nonsense articles. If you want to test things out, edit the sandbox instead. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Mhking 19:05, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am incredibly sorry that was supposed to be an extension of my userpage. PatPeter 19:06, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Although why did you label it as nonsense, this is a people's religion (if you say it is mine my my Lord Jesus Christ put a curse upon your fig tree) that seems so...prejudice! And how dare you welcome me to Wikipedia! I have been here since last year, I am not a newbie! PatPeter 19:10, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Prentice Hall Chemistry

I am not entirely sure what Prentice Hall Chemistry is meant to be but I am sure that it has no place in Wikipedia. Please cease working on it and allow it to be deleted. -- RHaworth 05:04, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I might move it to Wikibooks, but not delete it, I have the utmost respect for software developers (like yourself) let me finish it first and try to A) Redirect a page on Wikipedia to the chem Wikibooks page and B)...I drew a blank so I'll add it on later PatPeter 03:13, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Oh I remember now, B) what is a copyvio?

No - copy the article to Wikibooks now and work on it there: a) if you work here the recent changes patrollers will probably be on our back and b) a slightly different link format is needed so you might as well use it from the start.

Start the article with an introduction something after the lines of: "This is a glossary of the terminology used in Prentice Hall Chemistry with each term being linked to the appropriate Wikipedia article".

Copyvio = copyright violation. I do not have the book so I do not know how much of the article is your own words but be aware that too much verbatim copying is of course a copyvio.

Well done for putting the link in - you also need to learn to sign with ~~~~. -- RHaworth 11:07, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I usually do sign with ~~~~ but I forget sometimes. Three Things.
A) What is a recent changes patroller?
B) If I do change it to Wikibooks how do I link to Wikipedia?
C) I have not tried it but can I use quotations w/o it turning bold or something along those lines? (I am going to try using the nowiki command)
D) Wait are you really an admin?
-- PatPeter 18:58, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

A) Someone who spends a lot of time following special:recentchanges and especially one who takes an RSS feed thereof.
A+) Don't ask me what an RSS feed is - you need to start looking for answers yourself more.
B) Read Help:Interwiki linking.
C) The " char has no special meaning in wiki markup and 'single quotes' likewise.
D) Don't be rude, see A+) above and what difference does it make whether I am or not?
-- RHaworth 23:19, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I learned that the " char has no special meaning and if you are an admin that is amazing, that like makes you a god of knowledge or something :P (sorry I just finished a couple rounds of internet gaming so my English has died, I also have strep throat and a head cold which doesn't make for easy thinking either.) PatPeter 03:10, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

P.S. It's a good thing you didn't decide to explain feeds because I do not think I will ever understand them, or at least I'd have to read RSS (file format) one hundred times. PatPeter 03:16, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Stop Making New Pages With Typo Titles

Check your spelling before making any new pages. Please. Seriously. --- RockMFR 00:36, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Umm more specifically??? PatPeter 01:27, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

My guess would be he means Independant Varrible. Both words are misspelled. Fan-1967 02:19, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I hate when people do not link. But yes, this is the curse of dyslexia. Out of curiousity where did you find this page? PatPeter 02:25, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
I happened to notice the note, and looked through your contribution list. It kind of stood out. You might want to consider using Word or some other program with a spellchecker to compose offline, then copy it into Wikipedia after checking. Fan-1967 02:28, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes there can be pride in knowing one is wrong, but always shame in knowing ignorantly. But could you be more specific when you say you happened to notive the note, more specifically where? PatPeter 02:33, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
Some of us watch recent edits. It's called RCP. Often we see vandalism, sometimes someone struggling with a problem or an issue. Fan-1967 02:35, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks I am just curious most times, someday I might start watching RCs or newpages. PatPeter 03:49, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Move

I have moved Infobox user:patpeter to User:PatPeter/infobox. Please keep within the correct namespace. -- RHaworth 08:12, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey man, good to talk to you again, yes I did not know much of what I was doing so I sort of made a bunch of fake pages... I have been trying to find each one I made and delete it, thanks for finding another. PatPeter 18:11, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Whaddya mean trying to find? Is it so difficult to click the "my contributions" link? -- RHaworth 20:16, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes,
A) I did not describe the edits in edit summary
B) I edited a bunch of fake templates that are not on my contributions list.
C) I do not have enough time to go through all my edits, I went through a couple, tried to remember what I did because truthfully, I could not remember what I edited that day, I was really out of it.

P.S Watch White and Nerdy by Weird Al, I rotflol (from the song) I think you would find it funny, when first I saw this I was like 'THAT's ME! THAT'S ME!'

-PatPeter 21:43, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

(The Catholic template is supposed to be there) -PatPeter 21:44, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Hello Pat Peter. You should not just blank the pages you mistakenly created when you want them deleted. If you add {{db-author}} to it and then a administrator will delete it. Cheers. Rettetast 20:01, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for telling me that! PatPeter 21:29, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hiding real URL

Why are you trying to hide the real url to your website in Shadowism with domains you dont own? --OriginalJunglist 19:09, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry dude I wanted it to look cool, the freeweb isn't even mine, lol. I tried taking credit for making it and the Shadowism freeweb owner got pissed :P PatPeter 19:19, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Inorganic chemistry

Hope this is OK.

Cheers Ben 00:07, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes BUT chemistry is part of a title and should thus be capitalized, unless a dogma of Wikipedia exists where titles should stay lowercase. PatPeter 19:33, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Please stop changing the talk page to a redirect. If a redirect is the right way, then the talk page should be moved to preserve the content. You are losing the content. Now you have done this, such a move can only be done by an administrator. Let us sort out the proper name for the article first and then we can get an administrator to help us. --Bduke 01:11, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • You have also messed up the history of the main page as well. Material should be moved, not copied. --Bduke 01:15, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sorry, but a dogma of Wikipedia DOES say that everything except the first word stays lower case. See WP:MOS for more details. It's the same for section headings. Sometimes it takes a while to get used to things like this on Wikipedia. You will also see this if you check other pages like Organic chemistry, Physical chemistry, etc. Please can you move the content of the page back? That way the history isn't lost. Thanks! All the best, Walkerma 01:16, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Stop continually posting so I can post. PatPeter 01:18, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Alright, I do not know why Wikipedia uses sentence style but I will leave the correction of the pages I have changed to admins and other vigilantes, I will not change it again, but I do hope that people would present their reasons before taking action into their own hands, like I thought I should use headline-style, siting my sources as every book encyclopedia. If you and Ben want to change my edits give reason why, and thank you for giving reason on your second post. PatPeter 01:26, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
  • I fixed those pages. PatPeter 01:47, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Thanks! Walkerma 19:45, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Walkerma, no problem, and Ben THANK YOU for saying Merry Christmas, I very much dislike when others say 'Happy Holidays.' PatPeter 22:04, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Exeter userbox

Hello PatPeter - Many thanks for the Exeter userbox - much appreciated. Fell free to borrow any formatting, boxes, etc. that you find on my userpage if it helps. We have all looked in amazement at others' userpages and wanted to do the same...  :-)) Were you at Exeter? Best wishes, Ian Cairns 09:02, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Templates

Template:User homophobia

I have just deleted this template because it falls under WP:CSD#T1 - templates that are divisive and inflammatory. -- Steel 00:50, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did I say that I hate gays!? Did I say that they should burn in hell? I do not think these things.

If there is a userbox for gays why isn't there a userbox for people who disagree with homosexuality? — Preceding unsigned comment added by PatPeter (talkcontribs)

This isn't the "everyone's view gets a userbox" club. Yours was infammatory and was deleted. Incidentally, game screenshots are copyrighted and aren't allowed on userpages, so that got deleted as well. -- Steel 00:59, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, thank you for deleting my picture *sarcasm* but I didn't play that game much anymore, anyway.
Is there a User box for Pro-Life and Anti-abortion?
How was mine inflamatory, STOP hiding behind the word and explain yourself. PatPeter 01:03, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Those kind of userboxes cause needless offense and hate. -- Steel 01:08, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I just told you, I DON'T HATE GAYS, but I guess if they can have a userbox that says they are gay I definitly cant because im heterosexual, that is a bunch of bull, you are sexist against heterosexuals (I know what sexism means, play on words.) PatPeter 01:13, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's a total non sequitur. No one is stopping you adding {{User straight}} to your userpage. -- Steel 01:15, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

...

You know you could have just replaced my userbox with that, ahhhh being cooped up in this room, ahhhh now i have to go delete that userbox. PatPeter 01:17, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

{{User straight}} and {{User homophobia}} were totally different to each other. You seem to be implying that one is a close substitute to the other, which is troubling. -- Steel 01:20, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, I saw a gay userbox, wanted to make a userbox corresponding to my sexuality, not even thinking about a straight userbox because I have a cold, I am tired, I have been working all day. I was simply not looking at this an inverse way, like if you are walking on a path and you only think of that path, but if you were to flip the path over you would have a different POV.

I'm simplifing this: Forgive me, I have a headcold. PatPeter 01:38, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You also did not notice that I was trying to make the template along the lines of the straight template. PatPeter 22:11, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
