== Can't edit "Author or copyright owner" field ==

This wizard and template seem to work fine for the most part, I used it with [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Huntington_University_Logo.svg this page]. However, I am unable to edit the "Author or copyright owner" field, at least, not in the same way I did the other fields. Any idea what's going on here?

Also, as an aside: the old Non-free media information template had a field for "Portion used", is there a reason this has been left out of this new template or was it by mistake? Just something I noticed while using this wizard. [[User:Ian of Planet Earth|Ian of Planet Earth]] ([[User talk:Ian of Planet Earth|talk]]) 20:43, 17 November 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia

How can I upload a picture in Wikipedia? Nsudheer324 (talk) 17:59, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nsudheer324, the simplest way for most files is Commons:Special:UploadWizard. Just follow the instructions; at the end, it tells you how to use it on Wikipedia. Thank you for uploading images! HLHJ (talk) 03:26, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Upload wizard glitch

The wizard uploaded the file, but lost my rationale. See Wikipedia talk:Non-free content/Archive 69#Can't find rationale I typed up. HLHJ (talk) 03:24, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Glitch 2

Why does the start button do nothing but reload the page? -- Bank: Bank Robbery started a robbery (notify) 07:23, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bank Robbery: have you got javascript disabled on your browser? The wizard is a javascript file. Nthep (talk) 13:23, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Frustration

The wizard is a far easier way to upload the non-free logo of a new or remaned school. But I have a chicken and egg type frustration. I build a page in a user sandbox, get it right and then create the article to host it and transfer the text. At some stage in the procedings I download the logo to my desktop and will have to then use the upload wizard to upload the logo to the infobox. Here we have the chicken that is still in the sandbox, and the egg that needs to be uploaded- yes I have worked out that you have to create the chicken first but I can forget. The secret of good software is that it copes well with the task, and also prevents idiots from hurting themselves.

The wizard allows me enter the filename (of the non-existent chicken) and all the other necessary fields and gets to the bottom of the page- and stops me from uploading the egg as it must. Here it goes wrong. I go and create the chicken, and return to this page- it still wont let me upload, I refresh the page. All the data in those fields are lost. This is frustrating and unnecessary. The check comes too late, the message is on the wrong spot on the page and refreshing is counter intuitive.

Better would be to ask the user to browse for the chicken so a page has to be entered. A staic warning could be flagged "Please check that this file exist- or data will be lost", js could catch the refresh and run the page again catching the existance of the new chicken before defaulting to wiping the fields.--ClemRutter (talk) 15:44, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
