Yosemite National Park
Yosemite National Park was established as a California state park in 1864. It became a U.S. National Park in 1890 and is currently maintained by the U.S. Park Service. It has an area of approximately 3,079 square kilometers and is located in California. Over 3 million people visit Yosemite each year.
It has groves of ancient Sequoias trees and also hosts mule deer and black bears.
Notable park features include numerous waterfalls along the glacially formed Yosemite Valley of the Merced River.
