1552 Bessel (alternate designation 1938 DE) is a Main Belt asteroid.[1]

It was discovered on February 24, 1938, by Yrjö Väisälä at Turku, Finland. It was named in honor of the German astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel.[2]
