For the fourth successive season, Dumbarton competed in the Scottish Second Division, finishing 4th with 23 points, 10 behind champions Leith Athletic.[1]
For the first time in five years the club was successful in qualifying for the Scottish Cup, by reaching the semi final of the Scottish Qualifying Cup before losing to Bathgate. The first round draw in the Scottish Cup was however unkind to Dumbarton, but they put up a stiff resistance in losing only by the odd goal to Celtic.
Locally, the Dumbartonshire Cup continued to be played on a league basis. Dumbarton qualified for the final but as in the five previous seasons lost out, this time to Dumbarton Harp.
During the season there were also 3 'friendly' matches played, winning 1 and losing 2, scoring 5 goals and conceding 5.
