The 1971–72 Iraqi Central First Division was the 16th season of the Iraqi Central League (the top division of football in central Iraq (i.e. the capital city of Baghdad) from 1956 to 1974), and the first under the name of First Division. Aliyat Al-Shorta won their fourth league title and Al-Shorta's fifth.[1]
