The 1986 Nicholls State Colonels football team represented Nicholls State University in the 1986 NCAA Division I-AA football season. The Colonels were led by sixth-year head coach Sonny Jackson. They played their home games at John L. Guidry Stadium and were a member of the Gulf Star Conference. They finished the season 10–3, 2–2 in Gulf Star play.
