Hana Mandlíková and Wendy Turnbull were the defending champions, but were eliminated in semifinals.

Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver won the title by Claudia Kohde-Kilsch and Helena Suková 7–6(6–1), 6–3 in the final.

It was the 7th Tour Championships, 11th title of the year and 126th overall title for Navratilova and the 6th Tour Championships, 11th title of the year and 78th overall title for Shriver, in their respective doubles titles. It was also the 7th title for the pair, following the conclusion of the 1986 season.
