The 2006–07 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men's basketball team went 20-12 (8-9 ACC). Georgia Institute of Technology's basketball program is one of the most popular and successful college basketball programs in the nation. The Yellow Jackets have been to 2 NCAA Final Fours and have won 3 ACC Championships in the past 25 years. The program is most well known for its famous alumni, such as Chris Bosh, Stephon Marbury, Kenny Anderson, John Salley, Mark Price, Matt Harpring or Jarrett Jack. Bobby Cremins built the Georgia Tech basketball program from the basement up and passed the torch to head coach Paul Hewitt. Hewitt's teams feed on pressure defense and fast-paced transition offenses. Paul Hewitt was dismissed on March 12, 2011 and replaced by Brian Gregory from the University of Dayton.

Pre-season

Paul Hewitt recruited one of the best recruiting classes in Georgia Tech history bringing in McDonald's All-Americans forward Thaddeus Young and guard Javaris Crittenton. The team returns Jeremis Smith, Anthony Morrow, Mario West, and Ra'Sean Dickey as strong and experienced veterans to add needed balance to a very age polarized squad.
