Ashleigh Barty was the defending champion, but she withdrew from the competition to prioritise her recovery from 2021 season and prepare for the upcoming season in January.[1]

Aryna Sabalenka, Barbora Krejčíková, Maria Sakkari, Iga Świątek, Paula Badosa, and Anett Kontaveit are all making their debuts at the event.[2]
