The Alexandria shooting was a terrorist attack that occurred on 8 October 2023 against Israeli tourists in the Sawari district of Alexandria, Egypt, when an Egyptian police officer hired by them as security opened fire on the bus passengers.[1] The attack occurred during a trip past Pompey's Pillar.[2] In the attack, two Israeli citizens and the Egyptian guide were murdered, and one Israeli citizen was moderately wounded.[3] The gunman was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.[4] The perpetrator claims that he "lost control" of his gun and "fired randomly" on the crowd of tourists.

The attack occurred in the midst of October 2023 Gaza−Israel conflict.[5]
