7 Cups (formerly called 7 Cups of Tea) is a website (also an app) which provides free support to people experiencing emotional distress by connecting them with trained listeners. The listener, trained in active listening, interacts with the person seeking help via anonymous and confidential chat. Members must be 13 or over and listeners must be 15 or over.
The website derives its name from the eponymous poem by the 9th century Chinese poet Lu Tong. It is a Y Combinator startup founded by psychologist Glen Moriarty in July 2013.
