Sever Your Ties, also known as SYT,[1] was a metalcore[2][1] and christian rock[3] band from San Diego, California. Their first studio album, Safety in the Sea, was released on July 8, 2008 through Solid State Records and Tooth and Nail Records.[4] Band members included Dustin Peterson, Sean Marnul, Justin Coyle, Patrick Lemley, Michael DiDia and Philippe Gutierrez.[3] The band announced that they would be disbanding on June 4, 2010.[2]

The band's debut album, Safety in the Sea, was released on Solid State Records, a division of Tooth & Nail, on July 8, 2008.[5] The album charted at No. 49 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart.[5]
