Lakshmi Hebbalkar

Laxmi R Hebbalkar (b 1975)[1] is a politician of the Congress party, currently an assembly member in the Indian state of Karnataka since 2018.

Personal life

She is married to Ravindra Hebbalkar and lives in Hanuman Nagar, Belgaum (now called Belagavi). Has one son Mirnal Hebbalkar.

Political career

She was the party's losing candidate from Belgavi (Rural) Vidhan Sabha seat in 2013, and then from Belagavi Lok Sabha seat in 2014 elections. Later she was elected to the Karnataka state assembly from Belgavi (Rural) Vidhan Sabha seat in 2018 by defeating Sanjay Patil of BJP [2][3]

She is a feminist, and works to improve the standard of living of the people in the Belgaum constituency. She is currently serving as MLA from Belgavi (Rural) in Karnataka Legislative Assembly. She has a Rivalry with Ramesh Jarkiholi and her backing by DK Shivakumar caused Jarkiholi to Lead Rebel MLAs who took down Kumaraswamy Govt. She was quizzed for two days by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in September 2019 in connection with a probe into money laundering case. [4]
