Susan Langdon is chief executive of the Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI).[10] Since 1994, Langdon has mentored many Canadian fashion designers; including David Dixon, Sunny Fong of Project Runway Canada, Joeffer Caoc, Sid Neigum, Pina Ferlisi at McQ, Todd Lynn, Arthur Mendonça, Laura Siegel, Line Knitwear and Smythe.[11][12][13]

Career

Langdon attended Ryerson University and completed the Fashion Design program. The career that followed lead to awards including the Woolmark Award of Distinction and Concours Design Award.[14][15] Langdon has been at the helm of the Toronto Fashion Incubator since 1994.[16] In 2021, Langdon told the Toronto Star, "As the chief executive, I’m responsible for the daily operation of the organization including all financial management, government relations, promotion and marketing, fundraising and sponsorships, programming, community outreach and developing special events. My background as a fashion designer gave me valuable insight as to what designers need in order to succeed, so I added mentoring to my list of duties because that was something I really wished I had access to when I was starting out."[17]

Awards

In 1996, Langdon received the City of Toronto Excellence in Fashion Industry Achievement Award,[9] and in 1998 received Ryerson University's Alumni Award of Distinction and inducted into the university's hall of fame.[18] In 2005, Langdon received the JoAnna Townsend Award from the Organization of Women in International Trade.[4][5][6]

In January of 2021, Langdon received the Order of Canada for her services to Canadian fashion. [19]
