Universe (stylized as UNIVERSE; Korean: 유니버스) is a Korean mobile app and web platform created by international video game developer, NCSoft.

The global K-pop entertainment platform revealed all 11 of its participating artists individually from November 12–22 in 2020.

Development

Ahead of its launch day, Universe surpassed four million pre-registered users on both the App Store and Google Play.[1] As of January 21, 2021, K-pop fans from 188 countries around the world including South Korea, the United States, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Brazil completed pre-registration with 80% of these users residing overseas.[2]

Artists

Iz*One

Announced on November 12, 2020, girl group Iz*One was the first artist to join Universe.[3] As both the group's first release through Universe and the first project under Universe Music, Iz*One will be releasing the single "D-D-Dance" on January 26, 2021.[4]

Monsta X

On November 13, 2020, boy group Monsta X was announced as the second artist to join Universe.[5] As the group's first release through Universe, Monsta X will be starring in the 10-episode Universe Original Area 51: The Code. It will be updated weekly following the launch of the Universe app on January 28, 2021.[6]

The Boyz

On November 14, 2020, boy group The Boyz was announced as the third artist to join Universe.[7]

Kang Daniel

Solo artist Kang Daniel was revealed as the fourth artist to join Universe on November 15, 2020.[8] As his first release through Universe, Kang will be starring in the 10-episode Universe Original Agent Blackjack K. It will be updated weekly following the launch of the Universe app on January 28, 2021.[9]

(G)I-dle

Announced on November 16, 2020, girl group (G)I-dle was the fifth artist to join Universe.[10]

Ateez

On November 17, 2020, boy group Ateez became the sixth artist to join Universe.[11]

AB6IX

On November 18, 2020, boy group AB6IX became the seventh artist to join Universe.[12]

Astro

On November 19, 2020, boy group Astro was the eighth artist to join Universe.[13]

WJSN

Announced on November 20, 2020, girl group WJSN was the ninth artist to join Universe.[14]

CIX

On November 21, 2020, boy group CIX became the tenth artist to join Universe.[15]

Park Jihoon

Solo artist Park Ji-hoon was revealed as the 11th artist to join Universe on November 22, 2020.[16]

Universe Music

All artists that have joined Universe will participate in its "Universe Music" series, with various content including music videos released each month.[17]
