David Atkinson (born 27 April 1993) is an English footballer who plays as a defender for Darlington. He previously played in the Football League for Carlisle United.

Career

Without having played for Middlesbrough, Atkinson joined Hartlepool United on loan in September 2014 but did not play for the first team. He signed for Carlisle United on loan on 26 March 2015.[3] He made his debut on 28 March 2015 in a 2–1 away defeat by Oxford United.[4] On 4 June 2015, Atkinson signed a short-term deal with Carlisle United. He extended his contract until June 2017 on 30 December 2015.[5] On 1 December 2016, Atkinson joined Blyth Spartans on loan until 1 January 2017.[6] Six days after returning to Carlisle, Atkinson rejoined Blyth on a permanent deal.[7] He also spent time playing in Iceland for ÍBV, with which he won the 2017 Icelandic Cup and played in the UEFA Europa League.[8][9]

Atkinson joined Darlington for the 2019–20 season.[10]
