Camp songs or campfire songs are a genre of songs traditionally sung around a campfire. Since the advent of summer camp as an activity for children, these songs have been identified with children's songs, although they may originate from earlier traditions of songs popular with adults.[1][2] The tradition of singing around a campfire has existed for centuries.[2] It has been suggested that a good campfire song will have "either a rousing chorus (that everyone can sing along with), or a pattern of repeated lyrics (that everyone can sing along with)".[3]
