Khari Willis (born May 7, 1996) is an American football safety for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Michigan State and was drafted by the Colts in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Early life
Willis was the seventh of ten siblings born to parents Mary and John. He is the cousin of former NFL player Bill Brooks.[1] He grew up being a fan of Floyd Mayweather, Hancock, and fried chicken.[2] Willis graduated from Jackson Lumen Christi Catholic High School in 2015 and holds the school record for most rushing yards in a season with 2,800.[2]
Professional career
Willis was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round with the 109th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.[3]
In Week 1 of the 2020 season against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Willis recorded his first career sack on Gardner Minshew II during the 27–20 loss.[4] In the following week's game against the Minnesota Vikings, Willis recorded his first career interception off a pass thrown by former Spartan Kirk Cousins during the 28–11 win.[5]
In Week 14 against the Las Vegas Raiders, Willis intercepted a pass thrown by Derek Carr and returned it for a 50-yard touchdown during the 44–27 win.[6]
