CP locomotive "El Gobernador"

1846 – The first railway line in Hungary opens between Pest and Vác.
1894 – Central Pacific Railroad scraps El Gobernador (pictured), at the time the largest locomotive in the world.^[1]
1923 – United States President Warren G. Harding drives the golden spike on the Alaska Railroad.
2004 – Dennis H. Miller is promoted to president of the Iowa Interstate Railroad.
