Aspergillus quadrilineatus is a species of fungus in the genus Aspergillus. It is from the Nidulantes section.[2] The species was first described in 1939.[1] It has been isolated from soil in New Jersey, Egypt, Spain, China, and Namibia.[2] It has been reported to produce asperthecin, averufin, 7-methoxyaverufin, sterigmatocystin, versicolourin, desferritriacetylfusigen, echinocandin B & E, variacoxanthone B, emestrin, aurantioemestrin, dethiosecoemestrin, emindol DA, microperfuranone, penicillin G, quadrilineatin, and sterigmatocystin.[2]
Growth and morphology
A. quadrilineatus has been cultivated on both Czapek yeast extract agar (CYA) plates and Malt Extract Agar Oxoid® (MEAOX) plates. The growth morphology of the colonies can be seen in the pictures below.
