Uncut, in a review of the band's studio albums box set The Complete Studio Albums 1965-2020, said that Emotions married "hard blues with psychedelia".[1] AllMusic said that songs such as "There Will Never Be Another Day" demonstrated the band's R&B leanings,[2] while Mojo said that "the West Coast guitar on One Long Glance, the wigged-out Growing In My Mind and the knowing Tripping nodded hopefully towards the boot-boy psychedelia of the Small Faces."[3]
