Asteromonas is a genus of green algae in the family Asteromonadaceae.[1]
2 flagella extend from the anterior end of the cell. They reproduce primarily by longitudinal division. The cells are cone-shaped and have six projections, or ribs. When viewed from the pole it looks like a six-pointed star
