Kavisha Kumari Egodage (born 23 April 2003) is a women's cricketer who plays for the United Arab Emirates national team.[1]

Career

A right-handed batswoman and a right-arm off spin bowler, Kavisha has experienced success from a young age. At 11 years old she was selected for the UAE Women's Team in the 2014 Gulf Cup Championship in Oman.[2][3] This year she was named part of the 2018 ICC Women's World Twenty20 Qualifier tournament, and made her WT20I debut against Netherlands on 7 July 2018.[4] She took part in the inaugural Fairbreak 2022 Tournament which took place in the United Arab Emirates representing the BARM ARMY. This was an incredibly important event as it brought together some of the best International players from all over the world. She was able to show her skills and demonstrate her talent for the sport.[5][6]

Kavisha Kumari created a milestone at fifteen years old and 267 days, with an International fifty in the Thailand T20 Smash against Malaysia making her the youngest player to do so, breaking the record which was held by Sachin Tendulkar.[7] Her wonderful talent gave her the 2019 Shyam Bhatia Best Female Cricketer of the Year Award [8] and made her a pathfinder when she joined the Middlesex university cricket team and became the initial female to play in a Red Bull University Campus Tournament.[9] Moreover, she secured distinction when she made her first century [10] against a boys' team as part of one of UAE's oldest tournaments. Subsequently, for 2022, she was praised as having attained the highest run-scorer for Women's T20Is.[11]

During the Global Qualifiers 2022 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, she made a huge contribution to her team's success throughout the tournament with her brilliant fielding and batting especially against Zimbabwe. She displayed unwavering focus and dedication during her journey, and ultimately emerged victorious with her nation.[12]

In October 2022, she contributed to the UAE Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup team scoring against the likes of Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan in the Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup.

She was fortunate enough to be part of the second edition of the Fairbreak 2023 Tournament to Team BARMY ARMY [13]which took part in HongKong where she gained alot of experience playing alongside the greats of Women's International. Straight after the Fairbreak tournament she return to National duty in the Victoria Series which took part in Uganda where she was named the Best batter[14] of the tournament for scoring the 112 in 3 Matches with a average of 56.0. She followed her amazing form to the Capricorn series which took part in Namibia during the tournament she represented UAE for the 50th time.

During the ICC Women's Asia Region Qualifier 2023, In the round robin games, Kavisha played a significant role with bat and ball[15] in helping UAE reach the finals through bat and ball, Kavisha stepped up with the ball collecting three crucial wickets during the final defeating Thailand to be named Asian Champions[16]. She became the youngest female to cross 1500 runs in the recently completed in the Namibia Series .[17]
