Pastuchów [pasˈtuxuf] is a village in the urban-rural Gmina Jaworzyna Śląska, within Świdnica County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland.[1]
It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) north of Jaworzyna Śląska, 12 kilometres (7 mi) north of Świdnica, and 46 kilometres (29 mi) south-west of the regional capital Wrocław.
History
When it was part of medieval Piast-ruled Poland, in 1193, the tithe from Pastuchów was granted to the Canons Regular Monastery in Wrocław.[2] It was then mentioned under the Old Polish spelling Postuchow.[2] The name of the village is of Polish origin and comes from the old Polish word pastuch, which means "shepherd".[3]
