The Spanish Radio Academy (Academia Española de la Radio) is the institution that promoted the establishment of the World Radio Day by UNESCO. Its founder in 1997 was the radio producer and sound engineer, Jorge Álvarez. In 2012 this Academy founded the International Committee of Radio in union with the most important broadcasting organizations from five continents and under the auspices of UNESCO and ITU.
